GEORGETOWN (HALTON HILLS) HISTORY
"PARK AREA"
One of Georgetown’s most sought-after neighbourhoods is the "Park Area" or “Park District”. This area of town features large and small homes, many of which are older with a lot of character. Due to the great central location and large lots, many of the smaller homes are being purchased and re-built or substantially renovated. The much larger and newer homes are being tastefully re-built to keep in tune with the architectural features of the older homes in the area.
Some of the well-known streets in the “Park Area” are Charles Street, Edith Street, Park Avenue, Parkview Boulevard, Harold, Maple, Orchard, James, Lorne, George, Draper and Market Street.
The area also features many mature trees and surrounds the Georgetown Fairgrounds that hosts many activities including the Georgetown Highland Games, and the Fall Fair.
As one of Georgetown's older neighbourhoods, this well established & much sough- after area is a short stroll to the hospital, fairgrounds, parks, and the Old Downtown core; offering quaint shops, boutiques, restaurants, state-of-the-art library and the George Elliott Theatre. It’s also walking distance to the Farmer’s market, which is a popular attraction on Saturdays from June to October.
The elementary schools that service this area are Holy Cross and Park PS.
The secondary schools that service this area are Christ the King Secondary School & Georgetown District High School.
